Navneet Kaushal Large Number of Index Pages Doesn't Give Higher Ranking — Matt Cutts!

If you think that having higher number of pages give you a better chance to rank on Google, this might not be the case. Matt Cutts has recently released a Webmaster video explaining that it is the number of links and PageRank that might contribute to high ranking, when you have a website with large number of pages.

The question asked to Cutts was:

“Does a website get a better overall ranking if it has a large amount of indexed pages”?

Cutts said that just because you have a large number of index pages, you will not automatically get high ranking. However, if you have more pages that have different keywords on them, you have the opportunity that they might be able to rank for individual queries. [...]
